Treating Myasthenia Gravis With Orthomolecular Medicine

Treating and healing Myasthenia Gravis with ordinary amino acids is the basis for Orthomolecular Medicine. Large doses of naturally found proteins called amino acids can repair the imbalance in the brain and repair its malfunction. These amino acids are affordable and are used in therapeutic doses much larger than those levels normally found in food. The concept of orthomolecular medicine is based upon the use of very large doses of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, or botanical extracts for the cellular repair and enhancement of normal brain activities.

Orthomolecular Medicine utilizes 5-HTP, L-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine, and NAC to treat myasthenia gravis. This neurodegenerative disease affects the eyes and is an auto-immune disease. Botanical extracts and supplements are also welcome additions in treating the disease.

Quantum Orthomolecular Medicine may recommend other types of energy medicine to speed the recovery of the patient. Many illnesses are triggered by emotional traumas and stress. Therapies which can reduce major stress or treat the emotional component of illness are very important in healing. Yoga and Qi Gong can help reduce stress issues. They should be done at least four times a week for great results. Another therapy used id Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). It is very good for relieving stress or trauma. It involves taking your finger and tapping on several acupuncture points while stating an affirmation aloud. This may take several sessions to work.

Dietary changes must be quickly implemented. Your diet should include organic or local fruits and vegetables, reduce meats, increase cold water fish like salmon, increase unsaturated fats, eliminate saturated fats, and elimination of refined foods. Try to switch to decaffeinated coffee and eliminate alcohol and nicotine. It is good to have organic meat or free range chickens and organic eggs. Try to avoid all types of genetically modified foods. Implement a three-month period of eating foods that are gluten-free and monitor the results for improvement of energy levels and symptom relief or improvement.

People with myasthenia gravis in their family history may want to take one botanical as a preventative beginning in their late thirties. This may delay or prevent the onset of the disease or lessen the severity of the disease. Schisandra, skullcap, astragulus, ashwaganda, and cordyceps are some of the botanicals that can be used for this disease in Quantum Orthomolecular Medicine. There is a technique that is used in Quantum Orthomolecular Medicine to determine which botanical is needed for the patient and is also used to determine when the botanical is switched to another. Many times the body becomes resistant to a supplement and this must be actively managed. Auto-immune diseases require extra attention in this area.…

The Business Of Health Care – Managing Your Private Practice: Dr Hlombe Makuluma

In the Garden of Eden, during the fall of man, God asked Adam: “Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” Adam answered by blaming his wife, Eve. And when God asked the woman: “What is this that you have done?” Eve responded by blaming the serpent. Man’s inability to take responsibility for his wrongs, it seems, was embedded in his genetic makeup from the beginning of time.

In my twenty-five years in private practice, there has been plenty of serpents to blame for my personal and business woes. I was never short of excuses for my failures, shielding myself in the process from my inadequacies. I had also witnessed dozens of colleagues abandoning the medical profession, driven to other fields, and hiding behind similar excuses to mine for their failure.

Some had gone on to thrive in their newly found occupations, but for others, disappointment stalked the rest of their professional lives. For the latter, I am certain no other question tormented them more than: What does it take to win? What does it take to get things right in their floundering medical practises?

Winning in business is a seminal objective since success extends beyond the individual. Not only do our health practises prosper but also our families, children and marriages win. Winning at work can lead to being a champion at home. If for anything else then, that is why the message contained in Dr. Makuluma’s compelling and riveting book is vital. Inspired by his own experience, and profoundly stirred by the doom he witnessed in private practice, the author’s sublime ‘project’ reminds us that success, and indeed failure in health care practice, is often not by accident.

Success, he tells us, is a choice. When we run a race, we should do so with the mind of a champion: and that is do so with a plan to win and not surrender to the myriad business setbacks endemic in the medical profession.

In “The Business of Health Care” Dr. Makuluma gives us his blueprint-a strategy which when properly executed would eliminate flaws in private health practice, unravel the mystery behind success, and lead to victory. The genius of his plan is the sheer simplicity of its precepts. The author readily confronts the complexities of running a medical practice with carefully thought out principles, and with also simple but deliberate language.

From the outset, he jolts the reader with invaluable advice: The key to successfully operate a health practice is to be financially literate. This is the “basic formula”, he writes, for operating any business. On the surface this observation is obvious, and yet it remains the cardinal reason for the failure of many health practises.

It has also been stated repeatedly in several different ways throughout the ages. “A fool and his money are soon parted”: goes the old adage. “The men who can manage men manage the men who can manage things, and the men who can manage money, manage …

Basketball Fitness Training – Why Every Hooper Should Hill Sprint

Serious basketball coaches are always looking for ways to get an edge on the competition – to gain an advantage. It’s why you spend so much time researching methods of training that will make your players faster and stronger – and jump higher – without taking up too much time to get results.

That’s why I believe that running hill sprints (which includes running bleachers and stairs) is a must for any basketball player.

This is because hill sprints provide a number of benefits to the basketball athlete. Here are the Top 6:

1. Hill sprints provide the perfect combination of strength and speed training.

It’s like lifting weights and sprinting at the same time. The hill gives resistance to your athlete’s sprints, making them more difficult while being shorter in distance and duration. Including hill sprints in your training program can bring great results in as little as 15 minutes 1 or 2 times per week.

2. Hill sprints build stamina.

Endurance is something that every basketball player needs – but it is a special kind of endurance. If you want your athletes to perform at their peak, then low, slow distance types of cardio just won’t work. Their endurance training needs to mimic the demands of the game. Those needs being – short bouts of intense exertion broken up by periods of lower intensities.

Hill sprints provide just this type of interval training. They will take your players’ hearts and lungs to intensities far greater than those found in jogging or traditional types of endurance training. Their body will become used to reaching these higher levels, and recovering quickly in between the “sprints.”

More and more scientific studies are showing that VO2 Max (the traditional measure of aerobic endurance) is improved as much – or more- by using high intensity interval-type exercise like hill sprinting.

Want your team to have their “wind” at the end of the game? Hill sprint.

3. Hill sprints increase ankle strength – helping to prevent one of the most common injuries in sports – the ankle sprain.

Ankles are made stronger due to the need to push off harder when sprinting up the hill. Because of the incline, more drive is needed than when sprinting on a flat surface. Improved ankle strength also leads to the ability to push off harder during the game – benefiting a player’s important “first step” and lengthening their stride when sprinting in a breakaway on the court.

4. Hill sprints increase basketball players’ speed and explosiveness.

This is because hill training promotes two key factors in running faster and jumping higher. First, it forces proper knee lift – essential for driving the legs downward and back for more force. Second, hill sprinting makes the sprinter dorsi-flex their foot while running. The closer the toes are brought to the shin, the more force they can apply on ground contact. Think of dorsi-flexing as loading your foot – then unloading it into the ground – pushing you forward.

Explosiveness …

Gum Recession – What You Should Know in Regards to Gum Recession

Receding gums defined – This condition is very straight forwardly defined as a loss of gingival tissue over the jaw bone areas which directly causes root exposure. The problem is also commonly referred to as gingival recession.

Causes – Receding gums is extremely common among men and woman aged 40 plus. However the problem may have it’s origin in teen years. Over-aggressive brushing is probably the greatest cause of receding gums. The enamel at the gum line is corroded by the harsh motions and movements cause by the brush pressure. Bacteria accumulation as a result of bad oral hygiene has the potential of leading to break-down of bone as well as enamel. Diseases such gingivitis and edentulism may also be blamed for the condition.

Symptoms – Common recession symptoms are severe discomfort, pain, inflammation and irritation in the gum areas, tooth root exposure, tooth sensitivity and caries below gum line.

Treatment options – Prevention should be your number one priority due to the fact that receding gums have no sure-fire cure except the rather painfu,l not to mention, intrusive periodontal surgery. By just applying proper, basic hygiene routines you will able to cut you chances of developing the this problem by.

Natural Treatments – There’s a wonderful range of natural treatments and remedies available to treat the problem inexpensively not to mention effectively. Sage solutions are wonderful for tightening gums gently while also effectively relieving pain and discomfort often associated with receding gums. Brew your own solution by adding a couple of sage leaves to boiling water, strain and thoroughly rinse your mouth 2 times a day. Tea tree oil with it’s anti-bacterial and microbial properties, is a wonderful ingredient for prevention of bacteria accumulation. Mix a couple of drops tree oil with warm water and rinse your mouth no more than 2 times a day.

Consult your physician – Please consult with your physician as soon as you feel any pain, discomfort or encounter any symptoms associated with receding gums. It is also important to check with your dentist or doctor before starting any treatment to make sure the problems encountered are actually gum recession and to recommend a suitable treatment. Cosmetic Dentist – How Long Does It Take To Become a Cosmetic Dentist?

Becoming a cosmetic dentist will take many years of schooling. There is much to learn in this field and it will take time to learn what is needed. Included in the years of study will be many hours of hands on training to make sure that each student has seen everything there is to see and will have experience once they go out into the real world looking for employment. The field of dentistry is a very complex field and this is not the career field for everyone. For those who are dedicated and who put the time in, the field of dentistry can be very rewarding.

The title of cosmetic dentist is one that dentists, once they are out in the working world, give to themselves. There is no specialty during dental school where a student can take certain courses to qualify to be a cosmetic dentist. The title of cosmetic dentist is made up of different procedures that are all lumped together. Before any student can even begin to decide what they would like to specialize in, a student first needs to choose a college and obtain their four year degree. Some dental schools will only require a two year degree but most require a four year degree.

After finishing up a four year degree, a student who wishes to continue on to dental school will then apply for dental school. In dental school, students will choose either general dentistry or they will choose a specialty. Depending on which option is chosen, that will determine the length of time that a student is in school. Students who choose a specialty will spend more time in dental school because there will be more in depth subjects to cover and learn.

Once a student graduates from dental school, they will be able to pursue employment. Once a student has become a dentist and begins working, they will then be able to perform the tasks of a cosmetic dentist. A cosmetic dentist performs tasks that improve the look of a person’s teeth, gums, or bite and many of these procedures are performed daily at every dental office. It does take many years to become a dentist but for those who put in the time and the effort to learn what is being taught, they will excel in their craft and help many people over the course of their careers. Dentistry can be a rewarding career path for the right person.…

Want to Live Longer? Drink Sour Milk (or Fermented Foods!)

That is a famous quote from the eastern European country of Georgia (formerly of the Soviet Union) relating to the long life of the people in that region. They have traditionally consumed large amounts of fermented foods, including yogurt, but this is not very realistic in many areas of the world today, including the United States. Many people are lactose intolerant, but you can still eat fermented foods!

Today the benefits of fermented foods are really catching on, but did you know that the fermentation process was originally used to improve the keeping and storing of foods? It’s thought that camel, buffalo, goat, sheep and cow milk were initially fermented naturally into yogurt. The hot temperatures (110 F) of the North African deserts were ideal for lactic acid-producing bacteria to ferment the milk carried by camels in goat bags. Almost every region in the world has developed fermented foods in their quest to acquire new tastes and improve shelf life. Farmers, rather than scientists, used their ingenuity and imagination. They were thinking in terms of how to best provide for their families, not realizing that thousands of years later, scientists would be examining the potential health benefits of fermented foods.

Elie Metchnikoff, a famous Russian Nobel prize-winning Bacteriologist looked into the possible health benefits of fermented foods in the early 1900’s. He noticed that Bulgarians had an average life span of 87 years-that was much longer than the 50 year life expectancy in the US at that time and almost 10 years longer than even today’s average life expectancy of 78 years! One of the most significant differences in their lifestyle was the consumption of fermented milks! Since Metchnikoff’s original study, researchers have found that many populations use fermented foods. Georgians, from what was formally known as the Soviet Union, live over 100 years and are playing polo and working in the farm fields! They attribute their long lives to fermented or “sour” milk, which is where the quote from the title of this blog came from! I’m not sure I would want to be working in the farm fields at 100, but I’d love to still be riding my horses at that age!

I know that my family has greatly benefited from fermented foods. My husband and I are in our 50’s, feeling and looking better than we did in our 30’s! CJ’s intestinal issues are healed, his mind is clear and his body is healthy. In fact, all our children are healthy. I KNOW that we would not be where we are health wise today without the benefits of raw organic fermented probiotic foods.

There are so many benefits of eating fermented foods and researchers just keep adding more things to the list. Here are some of the benefits of fermented foods:

  • Improves digestive function
  • Improves bowel function
  • Improves mood
  • Improves liver function
  • Decreases wrinkles
  • Improves circulatory function
  • Improves joint and muscle function
  • Improves sleep function
  • Improves resistance to allergies
  • Improves vitamin absorption
  • Improves lactose tolerance
  • Improves gluten

Take Responsibility For Your Financial Health

Take responsibility for YOUR financial health.  All aspects of it: expenses, income, savings, retirement, investing, pocket change, the works.

This is a simple idea with potentially profound implications. Yes, it may be a bit cliché, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t true. Everyone would like to improve their life in some way – financially, mentally, physically, emotionally, or a huge variety of others – but nobody can until they accept that, fundamentally, they are responsible for what will happen.

The first step to take is to do just that: assume full responsibility for your financial health. Regardless of your situation, you can’t dwell on the past. It doesn’t matter if you got hit by a disaster, laid off, if a business deal went south, or if you think weren’t positioned right from the start. As long as you focus on the problems you perceive, you will be unable to move forward in your financial life.

Forgive everyone for all the bad things they have done to you. Let go of what has happened to you before. Stop thinking about the negatives and the past events that have placed you into whatever your current situation is.. Right now – don’t put this off, saying “Oh, that’s a good thought, I’ll consider it.” And there should be no half measures, even if you share finances. Assume 100% of the responsibility for your physical and financial health or you won’t be able to improve your situation. Above all else you must hold yourself personally responsible.

This is now going to let you take power over your financial health. If you want to change your situation for the better, you must have that power, plain and simple. Assuming full responsibility means you have no excuses when you fall off the wagon, no exemptions for slips, moments of weakness, and no one to pass the blame to when you aren’t as responsible as you want to be.

Without 100% responsibility you are utterly powerless. You’ll find ways to blame the world, your significant other, the economy, or something else. If you want things to change, you have to step into your power fully and completely. And you can’t do that if you remain in denial of even a smidgen of your responsibility. Now, I don’t mean that you need to blame yourself every time you slip even the slightest bit or something goes wrong. Not all circumstances are within your control. But you do always have the ability to respond to changes in your situation, so remember that!

Accepting responsibility for your own finances gives you the power to change your financial health for the better. It must be your own force of will that does so, but knowing that it’s on you makes all the difference in the world. Use your creativity and abilities to make the best of it!…

Branding Through Your Email Signature For Personal Trainers

Over and over I hear consulting clients tell me that they can’t get their personal training business to grow. They are stuck at certain level of success with their bootcamps and they can’t figure out why. Their service is higher quality and they provide more personal attention than bigger box companies. So what are they doing wrong?

The answer is usually small things that make all the difference. For one, they are trying to create a brand out of a commodity. That’s impossible. The public now sees personal trainers, bootcamps and challenges offered around every corner. Every magazine cover and every Facebook timeline is filled with opportunities for free and fee-based access to these services. They are generic.

When that’s true the only thing left for a customer to do is compare based on their needs. If your location is better, your price is right, or you’re physically less intimidating, for instance, you might get a shot. Those are random results. You want predictable.

If someone goes to find you on the internet through their Google search, will they find what they’re looking for in you? Few people go to Google to look for a bootcamp nearby. A frustrated woman doesn’t look for a personal trainer at night on her computer.

People are looking for solutions. They have problems. Those problems somehow become urgent. It may be a wedding, reunion, or summer season that makes them feel urgent suddenly. Use the questions that someone types into Google to help you be the answer they find.

What would you type in if you were a 47-year old woman who wanted weight loss? What would you type in for suggestions on diets that work for fast fat loss? Using those specific words on your website, your business card and in your signature on your email will help someone believe you are their answer.

Instead of listing you alphabet soup, choose the most prestigious certification you have and list it. If they want the full resume they can find it on your website. List the website or the blog URL instead of getting carried away. Make it a live link. Have a way for the customer to find content that adds value when they get there.

Create more than one signature on your emails. For communication with personal trainers who are seeking a marketing coach for instance, I list my personal fitness professional’s blog URL and the web page where someone can learn about coaching. For communication with my after 50 female market, I include my wellness webinar page and the URL for my book targeting that market.

By being able to see that I provide information for people navigating fitness after 50, a prospective customer knows instantly that I have solutions for them. They do not care until later what credentials or experience I have. Until my personal fitness professional clients know I have the answers to their fitness marketing mastery they don’t care what degrees or certifications I have. Most of …
