You may think if you put work in on your health today, you will save yourself from a lot of stress and anxiety later in life. Putting a stop to health problems now is not only prudent; it is ideal. It is true prevention is more important than treatment. With that said, do not let these thoughts lead you to believe you will not have to work on your health in the future because that would be a mistake. The work is never complete. There will always be something you should be doing or could integrate into your lifestyle for improved health. It may not always be hard, but we can assure you it will not always be easy.
Sometimes the truth hurts. However, it is infinitely better than being fed sugar coated advice or stories. The sooner you accept reality, the quicker you can make sense of it and focus on actionable plans. On that note, you must focus on what you can do today. If you know you have health issues, then it is not without reason…
- are you above a healthy weight? Start taking weight loss seriously.
- do you have high blood sugar? Start making better food choices, in and out of the kitchen.
- cardiovascular issues? Following a diet plan with the guidance of a professional will help,
not to mention making changes elsewhere. There is a good chance if you are dealing with more than one health problem there will be some overlap between them. When there is an overlap of health issues, weight loss, diet, and physical activity are prominent mentions in many health discussions. These are not only the problem areas for many people – but they also offer solutions that can be acted on to bring about change.
Moreover, let us say you have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and have struggled with losing weight and stabilizing your blood sugar for years and have finally had enough. You have decided to work on your health to reverse your condition. If all goes well, you will bring your blood sugar levels back to an ideal range within a year. How much time is required will vary, but one year is certainly not an unreasonable plan.
Once you have recovered, the work is not over. You must continue to…
- eat healthily,
- watch your weight,
- exercise, and
- monitor your blood sugar regularly.
If you are not careful, you could end up back where you started. The same principle applies if your primary goal is weight loss and changing your physique. If you care about your well-being, you will never stop working on your health. It is what it is.
Lastly, don’t worry about what is involved – there will still be work for you tomorrow despite what you have done today. But this is no reason to be despondent – by always working on your health you will be benefitting your well-being in priceless ways. Remember: there is arguably nothing more precious than good health.…Read More
Hojicha is a type of roasted Japanese green tea. The sometimes-used term hojicha tea is redundant, as “cha” means tea in Japanese and a number of other languages. Hojicha is usually viewed as an unusual or peculiar type of green tea, as it differs sharply from other green teas, Japanese or Chinese, in its color, flavor, and overall characteristics.
Caffeine Content and Health Benefits of Hojicha:
Two of the most common questions that many people ask when they learn of a new variety of green tea are: How do the health benefits of this tea compare to other green teas? and How much caffeine does this particular variety contain?
Caffeine: Hojicha is among the lowest in caffeine of green teas, which is good news for people seeking natural low-caffeine teas, produced without a chemical decaffeination process. There are two reasons for the low caffeine content of hojicha. First, hojicha tends to be produced from bancha, a Japanese green tea which is naturally low in caffeine because it is made from larger, more mature leaves, which themselves contain less caffeine. Secondly, the roasting process breaks down some of the caffeine. It is important to note, however, that the amount of caffeine in a different hojichas sold by different companies can be quite varied, both due to variation in the base tea, and variability in the level of roast.
Health Benefits: The health benefits of hojicha have not been as extensively studied, in terms of studies that measure the effects of actual tea drinking on humans. However, there is at least one study that has measured the antioxidant content of brewed teas, and this study found that hojicha is much lower in catechins, the main class of antioxidants in green tea. It is likely that the roasting process, in addition to breaking down caffeine, also breaks down a number of the antioxidants. Although antioxidants are not the only reasons for the health benefits of tea, it is important to note that hojicha does not deliver the same amount of antioxidant as most other green teas.
What does hojicha taste like?
Hojicha has a strong roasted aroma, reminiscent of coffee. However, it’s flavor is mellow and smooth. The resulting cup of tea is fascinatingly coffee-like in aroma, but completely unlike coffee in flavor. Hojicha has some of the aromas and flavors characteristic of green tea. As one would expect, the lighter-roasted hojicha tends to resemble the original base tea more than the darker-roasted teas. Some hojicha is double-roasted; the more heavily roasted teas bear little resemblance to the original base teas used.
Other roasted teas:
Besides hojicha, there are a number of other teas that are roasted at some point in their production process. Many oolongs are roasted, and like with hojicha, the level of roast varies considerably. One can find Wuyi oolongs, Anxi oolongs, Dancong, and Taiwanese oolongs that tend towards the more heavily-roasted sign. A few Chinese green teas are also roasted, although the level of roast is very light and …Read More
The Reebok Treadmill Model 9500 ES is so packed with features that I wonder if it should be described as a treadmill at all! Combining fitness with fun, its more of a one stop workout and mini entertainment venue right there in your own home. An expensive gadget or a cheaper alternative to a fitness membership? I guess that depends on how much you pay at your fitness center, and how often you use it.
Another thing that strikes you when you’re looking around for advice on the Reebock Treadmill Model 9500 ES, and other Reebok treadmills – made by ICON Health and Fitness – is the manufacturer’s description. There’s a trademark attached to so many of the features, and without sounding negative about the product itself, do we really care if the fan, or incline control has some kind of made-up name for the sake of adding a TM after it, and does it make the treadmill any more attractive to buyers? I doubt it! For the purpose of this review, however, I have included all the ® and (TM) logos where appropriate, and you can see for yourself how ridiculous it starts to appear.

If that’s not enough, the 9500 ES is also compatible with iFit® Interactive Technology, which is like having a virtual personal trainer! The belt on this model is a very good size for a home treadmill, at 60″ in length and 20″ wide, giving a decent running surface and a more comfortable workout for those with longer legs. With speeds of up to 12mph thanks to the 3.5 CHP commercial grade motor, the Reebok 9500 ES is able to compete with some of the treadmills you see at the gym. Many people today suffer from a variety of stomach problems. You may be one of them. If so, you know how a case of diarrhea or nausea and vomiting can ruin your plans for the entire day. Heartburn can torment you in the late night hours as well as spoil the enjoyment of a good meal. While most of these are temporary annoyances, persistent stomach ailments should cause you to seek out medical intervention. Sometimes these are symptoms of much more serious conditions.
Diarrhea is a problem with loose, watery stools that sends you flying to the bathroom, often at the most inopportune times. It can be caused by food poisoning, or bacterial infections such as e-coli. If you are lactose intolerant you may also feel the unpleasant results of enjoying those dairy products. More serious issues that cause these stomach problems are Crohn’s Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In the case of food poisoning or bacterial infections, your symptoms will usually lessen by consuming only a clear liquid diet within 24 hours. Drink as much fluid as you can because dehydration can be a real concern. To avoid this problem in the first place, always practice good food safety habits in the kitchen, insist on well-cooked food, and return food that is served to you looking as though it has been sitting out for some time, especially if mayonnaise is involved. If mucous or blood shows in your stools, consult a doctor immediately.
Nausea and vomiting are stomach problems that are rarely life-threatening but can also cause dehydration and even shock if unchecked for too long. The typical causes are an upset gastrointestinal tract, pregnancy, vertigo (dizziness) from inner ear problem or motion sickness, food poisoning, brain injury, carbon monoxide poisoning, and reactions to medicine. It seems that whenever the brain is affected by injury or illness, nausea and vomiting will also be present. Taking slow, deep breaths helps settle the queasiness, as do Vitamin B6 and ginger supplements. There are OTC antihistamines that will also ease your distress.
Heartburn is a burning sensation in your upper abdomen or chest that often mimics the effects of heart disease. Because of this, a doctor should be made aware of your condition if it does not respond to OTC acid buffers and H2 blockers. To reduce acid reflux you should quit smoking and drinking carbonated drinks. Raising the top of your bed, eating small meals, and avoiding coffee, chocolate, fatty foods, and whole milk has also been shown to help. Most stomach problems can be improved with lifestyle changes such as these, but more serious ones will need medical treatment including possible surgery.…Read More
Earlier tonsil stones were not understood properly as they were not researched properly that many doctors thought that they could be treated using antibiotics and often suggested tonsillectomy when the antibiotics did not work. But actually speaking the surgery is not at all required as tonsils play a very vital role in guarding the body from viruses and bacteria. They can be cured easily using various natural and herbal remedies. Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Chinese medicines used herbs for treating the improper condition of tonsils effectively and efficiently.
Tonsil stones are dealt in a very different manner using Chinese herbs. According to Chinese medicine diseases and other issues related to tonsils happen due to toxins and poor quality digestion hence they advocate to lower or completely avoid foods which creates more acidity and toxins in body like white flour products, red meats, fat rich food items like dairy products, butter, ghee, fried foods and white sugar. Apart from avoiding these food stuffs it is advised to include food stuffs rich in antioxidants like blueberries, pomegranate, carrots, cabbage, raspberries and turnips. Ginger and carrot juice can also be used for detoxifying body and for relieving infections of tonsils and diseases.
Chinese herbs like mu xiang and guy a or brown sprouted rice can be used for aiding digestion and to lower toxins present in the tonsils as they help in moving the food via the body very quickly without making them stagnated to form toxins. There are also other Chinese detoxifying herbs like the she gan, ban lan gen, bai hua she she cao and Chinese herbs that are meant to clear off mucus like ban xia, chen pi and bai fu zi. Some Chinese doctors and health enthusiasts might however not recommend certain cool natural herbs and foods like spirulina or chlorophyll as they deplete digestive energies and might result in food stagnation leading to higher toxicity. Apart from this good oral hygiene is said to be very important to remove bacteria present in the tonsils. Lemon juice or apple cider vinegar along with water is used to get rid of the bacteria most often.
Natural remedies are not only chosen for their ease of use, but also for their effectiveness and cost effectiveness. Sometime mere gargling the mouth using saltwater solution can dislodge diseases or can be removed using mechanical methods. But care should be taken not to poke or break the diseases as they can even damage the tonsils.
Home Remedies for Curing Tonsil Stones
Tonsillectomy not only can lead to various health problems later but also does not come at a cheaper price. The surgery can also hinder day to day activities for some time. Hence, it is avoided most often. In fact, there are natural and scientifically proven ways to get rid of tonsil stones so they never return. It’s absolutely not necessary to go for a long, drawn out surgery or wasting your money on expensive nasal sprays and tablets.…
Baby teeth are designed to last 6-12 years. Also referred to as primary teeth, baby teeth contribute to the overall development and health of every child. Their function is dependent on a disease-free status.
Proper speech development relies on the presence of childrens teeth. The tongue creates definite sounds with the presence of baby (primary) teeth.
Digestion begins in the mouth. A healthy diet is dependent on front and back teeth for drinking as well as crunching. As food is properly masticated in the mouth, the stomach can continue digestion for optimal nutrition.
A healthy mouth leads to healthy self esteem every time a child smiles. When teeth are fractured or badly postponed children resist smiling, talking and participating in class because of peer ridicule.
Badly declined teeth are not only an esthetic issue but more importantly becoming a health issue. A deep cavity makes eating a painful process resulting in malnutrition. Pain also interferees with learning and concentration. Attendance providers costing schools money for lack of attendance. Often a parent will have to take time off of work to stay home with a suffering child. Then more time-off is necessary for dental treatment.
As a tooth becomes decay, the disease process can lead to infection and even death. Dental decay is a progressive disease and commands treatment. Advanced decay often results in infection. Prolong infections find pathways to the brain causing death.
An unhealthy mouth is a smelly mouth. Good and bad bacteria thrive in the oral cavity. Germs multiply, produce wastes, die, then rot and create a foul stench. Beside odor, wastes produce acids contributing to demineralization of enamel. Babies and very young children will develop cavities (deceay), in their front upper teeth first.
Baby teeth reserve space until the permanent teeth erupt in the mouth. This is a very important role. Premature missing primary teeth will affect the eruption sequence of adult (permanent) teeth. Eruption and alignment of permanent teeth will suffer leading to increased chance of crowding and crooked teeth.
The bottom line is take good care of your child's baby teeth. Most dental diseases are preventable and not painful in early stages but are expensive to restore. Children should see a dentist by age one, according to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Start cleaning your baby's mouth even before they have teeth. Gently wipe their mouth with a soft wash rag or gauze. Get them accustomed to you looking in their mouth and cleaning it. This practice will condition them to be less fearful when visiting dental professionals. …Read More
Frottage is defined in a number of ways. Some people mean “dry-humping,” or rubbing the genitals against another person while both are clothed; some people use the word to describe the highly illegal and immoral practice of rubbing oneself against others in a crowd for sexual pleasure. Here, frottage will refer to the act of two or more bodies rubbing together clothed or unclothed to achieve sexual stimulation.
Since it is a type of sexual activity that involves no penetration, some may think that the practice is 100% safe. Yet that may not be the case. In the interest of maintaining optimal penis health, men need to know the risks associated with this activity.
Anytime a man’s semen enters a woman’s vagina, there is a possibility of pregnancy. Researchers still aren’t sure if pre-seminal fluid can cause pregnancy, but it may be able to do so. This means that people engaging in genital rubbing may still run the risk of conceiving if they allow the man’s fluids near the opening of the woman’s vagina.
Sexually transmitted infections can be passed through skin-to-skin contact or through bodily fluids like penile or vaginal discharge, or blood. Some STIs that can be contracted through bare frotting are herpes, HPV, HIV and pubic lice.
It’s always a good idea to ask sexual partners the following:
– When were they last tested, for what, and what were the results?
– Have they had new partners since then?
– How well do they know their past partners’ sexual histories?
– Do they use condoms with other partners?
Jock itch is caused by an overgrowth of the tinea cruris fungus and is a common groin rash among men. Though it rarely impacts women, it is possible for the fungus to spread to them.
If a woman has a yeast infection, she can pass it through her fluids to a man. Even if he’s not penetrating, if she is wet and his penis gets her fluids on it, it’s possible to contract the yeast infection.
Rough, dry skin is a common result of friction, and there’s no shortage of friction while frotting, especially if partners are doing so clothed. The vaginal area may become sore and raw, as may the penis. Both these results often come along with penetrative sex as well.
Frotting partners will be safest if they take precautions against possible health issues related to the practice. If pregnancy is not desired and the partners are engaging in genital rubbing, it’s a good idea to use condoms even though penetration isn’t occurring. This can also help prevent the spread of any infections that may be in the area, although it doesn’t guarantee this.
Another thing couples may want to do is use lubricant while frotting. This can help prevent a lot of dry skin and chafing issues. If wearing clothes, try to avoid rough materials like denim and garments with buttons or zippers.
Men may overlook the importance of …Read More
Going to the dentist is far from a humorous experience, but somehow the best sitcoms have managed to find hilarity in episodes about the tooth doctor. Here are ten of the best shows in which a regular character visits, or in one case claims to visit, a dentist or orthodontist.
The King of Queens
In an episode cleverly titled “Two Thirty” Doug (played by Kevin James) is having a root canal, but what hurts him even more is finding out that Carrie (played by once had a huge crush on the dentist.
The title character in “The Yada Yada” episode finds adult magazines in the waiting room of orthodontist Tim Watley, who in a later episode invites Elaine (played by Julie Louis Dreyfus) to the Super Bowl.
Married With Children
“Tooth or Consequences” is the title as Al (played by Ed O’Neill) experiences an insufferable toothache, forcing him to see Marcie’s dentist.
In order to avoid a dental bill in “Nuttin’ But The Tooth” Fred decides to extract Barney’s aching tooth himself. After failing at the task and leaving Barney floating over Bedrock, Fred takes him to veterinarian instead of a dentist.
Guest star William Shatner appears in this episode titled “Eye Tooth” involving the inhalation of funny gas at the dentist.

With the current down turn in the economy many engineers have loss their jobs or worried that they maybe losing their job soon. Budget constraints both in the public and private sector are forcing to think about how secure the jobs really are. But as we all know this recession will not last forever. Sooner or later the promised recovery will begin. The question is what engineering will benefit from the renewed economy and which ones will not fair so well? There is no real crystal ball, but there are clear indicators that every engineer should be aware of and make preparations accordingly.
Engineers will need to continue their education to stay up with the latest technologies to offer their clients the best solutions. Most of the State Licensing Boards require Professional Engineers to renew their professional licenses periodically with a minimum number of continuing education units. These units are usually Professional Development Hours (PDH) or Continuing Education Units (CEU). One PDH is equivalent to one hour of course education, and one CEU is equivalent to ten PDH or ten hours of course education. Some may find that their profession is not growing or trailing behind may need to change careers or strength their technical knowledge.
One of the best indicators of upcoming markets is to know what the baby boomer generation needs and wants. The baby boomers, the individuals born between 1945 and 1964, are now approaching retirement age. Many will be retiring and will require some medical and health assistance. They will also want medication to appear young as long as possible. Obviously fields that support this industry will do very well. The most likely profession to benefit is Biomedical Engineers. They are necessary to improve new medical devices and equipment. In addition, new facilities will be required for the aging population. Independent Living Facilities and senior communities will rise in demand. This will definitely improve prospects for Civil and Mechanical Engineers.
Another field that will continue to have a high demand for engineers is the environmental fields, which includes new green products, renewable energy, water resources, and waste-water management. The United States will continue to encourage renewable energy including wind and solar power with government grants and other types of funding. These projects will generate numerous jobs for many different professions. As the population continues to expand a greater demand will be placed on housing and our water resources and waste-water management. These increased demands will increase jobs for Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Environmental Engineers.
Due to the increasing population and aging facilities, the government will also need to expand and improve the country’s infrastructure. Roads, bridges, dams, railways, airports, and utilities throughout the country will need greater attention. These improvements will also increase the demand for Civil Engineers.
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Occupational Outlook Handbook”, 2010-11 Edition, over the next decade, 2008 to 2018, the engineering field should grow by 11%. In 2008 engineers held 1.6 million jobs in the United …Read More
In all of my research on halitosis and its treatment, perhaps this is the most uncommon way to cure bad breath I have come across. As an American we are not accustomed to using acupuncture as a normal treatment. We don’t think of Acupuncture as how to get rid of bad breath. Acupuncture is the art of using tiny needles placed into the skin in strategic areas to block certain nerves to change the flow of Qi which is pronounced “Chee.” It is believed that the Qi is the energy flowing through our bodies that gives use the power think, move, work, and feel.
Chinese medicine has been practiced for thousands of years. Their approach to medicine is much different than that of the western world. They believe that the health of the body mind and spirit is all connected through Qi. The balance of the Yin and Yang is the basic principle of Chinese traditional medicine. It is said that all life is born from the interdependency of the Yin and the Yang in an everlasting motion that creates good health. When one or the other gets out of balance the whole body can be thrown off. This is when disease and illness can inter the body. In Chinese medicine balance and health go hand in hand.
The Chinese believe that bad breath is caused by a hot stomach. As the name implies there is too much heat coming from the stomach. This can cause such problems as bad breath, gum disease and swelling, mouth ulcers, frontal lobe headaches. Excess stomach heat can be caused by a number of factors like extremely high stress levels, bad diet, stomach flu, eating food that has turned bad, and much more. It really is quite common, in fact a lot of time it goes undetected and people just choose to suffer with it and try taking antacids. This only masks the problem. If you can find the cause of your hot stomach then it can be reversed, if not perhaps acupuncture will help. I know it sounds strange and maybe a little scary to think of allowing some stranger to poke a bunch of needles into your skin.
Remember acupuncture has been around for a very long time. In fact the Chinese have been perfecting the skill of acupuncture for thousands of years. You don’t think it would still be used if it didn’t work do you. With acupuncture the balance between the Yin and The yang can be restored thus restoring health to the body. This in turn will allow the stomach to return to its normal temperature. Then the bad breath should be cured. It is very important when looking for a qualified acupuncturist that you do your homework. Ask around; try to find somebody to recommend someone that is reputable.
Don’t just go to the first one in the phone book. After all we are talking about your health. Of course this is only one solution to having bad …Read More
